Tim, to try and find out what the "big boys" are really doing, I often look at the put call ratio in equity vs indices. The big boys are active mostly in the indices while J6P in equity. Look here:

cboe.com

and you will see, for instance, that today, the big boys where buying puts on the SP 500 at three times the rate they were buying calls. To me it means that the big boys expect much lower lows.
