By definition compassionate conservatism is an oxymoron. By nature, the system in place today is not compassionate, and also by definition conservatism aims to keep the system in its current state.

There's alot more that we can do to help this country progress forward but are not being accomplished due to the lack of progressive thinking in politics. As much as conservatives cry out that liberals are fiscally irresponsible, you won't convince me that Bill Gates needs all that money to survive. Exactly what does he plan to do with that money, sit on it?

I agree that some people have amassed small fortunes resulting from hard work and ingenuity. Then what? Just sit on it and keep other people from having a slice of pie? That to me is the most irresponsible aspect of conservative finance. They just want it all to themselves. Since it's obvious that the rich only give to the poor when they are forced, the government does take a socially acceptable position by redistributing that wealth to others.

Nobody is the owner of wealth, and Bill Gates is no more entitled to billions of dollars as I am.
