I too have noticed exceptionally thin inventory. Used to be I could buy a disk drive there, but now the options are very few. Also, I've searched on other odds and ends (electronics and/or computer hardware related), and found significant gaps. What?! We can't buy a USB cable that will show before Christmas? The printer I ordered said 2-3 days, but the estimated date of delivery on that has been bumped back several days already. The order date was Dec. 2; the current estimated ship date is Dec. 12 to 18. Ack!

So, have they gone way overboard in trying to prevent any excess inventory from surviving the holidays? Or are they experiencing such unexpectedly heavy orders that they simply are at the whim of the distributors? Or ...?
