MBI provides financial guarantees for municipal bonds, asset-backed & mortgage-backed securities, corporate debt & debt of selected financial institutions & provides investment management services. Revenues for the 9 months ended 9/30/00 increased 9% to $783.2M. Net income totaled $392.4M, up from $193.6M. Revenues reflect an increase in net investment income. Net income also reflects a decreasedlosses and loss adjustment expense. Gee, that sounds like a really bad business to be in going into a recession. Just want I want to do - back all those asset-backed securities as they're going bust. This is one of my new candidates for a significant bankruptcy announcement when our bubble is done... BC
