Hi ladies,
Hope there's room for a male's voice out here..without going into too many specifics..I too, experienced the difficult issues that are raised by abortion...it was a joint decision (indeed, it was extremely difficult for both of us, but in saying that, i realize that the woman's perspective is a unique one, one that I perhaps can never really appreciate...), it was not a crisis pregnancy, no pressure to get married or economics or anything...we both for reasons we shared and for others that were more individual, decided that having a child at that time wasn't we wanted...
The actual decision once made and completed passed relatively uneventfully...the after effects were more difficult to discern...my wife went through phases of doubt and misgivings and guilt, especially when we had children within 2 years of the abortion...
For me, I look at my two sons, now 3 years and 6 months and wonder if the decision was "right" (I hate that word, it doesn't really convey what I mean in this instance)
...all i can offer is what everyone else has shared, it really is an individual decision, at times I thought i was being very selfish (i.e. I wanted more time before starting a family, didn't want the responsibility at the time among many other factors)...
thanks for letting me share a few thoughts of what was and is a difficult part of my life and my wife's... |
