Hi Pete,
Hey, nice to hear from you again. :)
Thanks for the very interesting post. Do you think anyone will be able to afford to live in Napa next March? I see that natural gas is up at $37/mcf. That is truly amazing.
Today, the spot bid/ask on 1 MWH of ordered electrons was $1500 by $4000. Yikes. You guys live in a wonderment of inflation. Please don't tell Uncle Allan.
Are these prices for energy having any impact on your planning? Pretty soon it seems, photovoltaic roof shingles might be economic in Napa, if things keep going the way they have been.
Their homes sell for 20% more with broadband availability. We will deliver 100 Mbps to the home.
So in the case of Napa probably a difference between $250K and $300K? If I'm in the ballpark, that's a $50K differential. Is that realistic? And if so, how long can the spread be maintained? Seems like once the broadband thing is a known quantity that folks are either going to be willing to finance that extra $300 per month in the mortgage to get all the bells and whistles, or they're going to be pulling in their horns in the face of some serious, seeming permanant readjustments to their energy costs to run a residence and a commuter vehicle from a haven like Napa. It's a great argument for telework. But I wonder what percentage of the population is upscale enough and wired enough to want to pay this extra freight?
BTW, did you select any EXTR or FDRY gear for any of your hub needs? Or all CSCO?
I'll post here any relevant announcements that come out (no hype), and our web site has more details if anyone is interested, Hype's OK. We know how to think here, and we don't suffer fools too politely, but anyone is welcome to try anything. I'm a perfect example. ;-)
Thanks for the URL. I wasn't able to locate any case study info on completed projects. Can you direct me to that sort of information?
