CSFB takes temp jobs at AMZN
--9:36 am - By Tomi Kilgore
Amazon (AMZN: news, msgs) is rallying $2.50, or 12 percent, to $23.88.
Analyst Jamie Kiggen at CS First Boston unveiled in a research note to clients
that some at CSFB spent much of this week "as temporary laborers" at
Amazon's Deleware distribution center, which appears to account for up to
25 percent of U.S. unit volume. Kiggen said that activity levels indicated it is
"highly likely" that Amazon would meet or exceed the December quarter
revenue estimate of $1 billion. Sanford Bernstein analyst Faye Landes also
thinks the company will meet revenue estimates, but various extensions of its
free-shipping promotion could put pressure on margins and per-share
operating results.
