Joe,

Re: "Any arguments, supporting or counter ?"

Very good post, Joe. I think this sort of debate is exactly
how SI should be used !! I don't know why some AMD'ites don't
want to discuss both sides of an issue ... something about having
their heads in the "sand".

My thoughts on your question.

1) AMD's device (Idsat, Vcc, Ioff) process technology has NOT been
as aggressive as Intel at .35um. This explains the difference in
CPU speed (233Mhz versus 266Mhz). Thus, AMD is still playing
catch-up at .35um and will probably play catch-up at .25um as well.
AMD will never displace Intel at the high end of PC performance.

2) AMD is having difficulty producing enough 233Mhz parts OR there
is no demand for this part. Either way, this is "bad news" for AMD.

3) Intel will introduce CPU's based on .25um technology before AMD.
This will almost certainly keep all the tier one PC vendors (except
for DEC ... by the end of the 3rd quarter) committed to Intel for
mid-range to high end PC's.

4) Also, I agree with your previous three points !!!

Make It So,
Yousef
