Jane:
That is a great story! It's fun to see how he interacts with his friend, and I credit you for being the great role model that you are. Brian is very brave to have gone through such big tests.
I took the name of a child for the Angel Tree, at work. Last night, I took my son to buy the final items. The little boy, "Taylor," is 3. A coat was on his list, which I was certain was from his Mom. He also asked for coloring books and crayons. I purchased the coat, coloring books and crayons. I also bought a little car that I thought he would enjoy. My son looked over everything and said, "I will help him color." I said, "we are not going to meet him, but that is sweet." I have added him to my son's bedtime prayers last week, so he could understand that it is important to care about the child's well being.
Thanks for the story, and what a great tradition to follow. It's amazing that it can be cold outside, my son will always go to Dairy Queen. These formulative years are so important! I've tried to create my own traditions. My Mom is so good at that! I started baking Christmas cookies in October, and my son helps.
