Nadine, your comment was... "A statewide recount could have been ordered only if both candidates agreed. Gore offered; Bush declined." This statement is in error I believe. I asked you where in the Florida Code this is allowed. The point I believe is that Gore offer was with out merit and he knew it was past the dead line to ask for them. Your post to me also brings up another issue. The leader of an election count never asks for a recount. The losing party does. Don't blame Bush for that. I am sure Gore would not have asked for one either and fought them just as Bush has. They are both Politicians. The fact that Gore asked for recounts in heave Democratic Counties with partisan County Boards is unfair and has scared and galvanized the Republicans like nothing else ever has. For that I am thankful. Q- If the roles had been reversed, and Bush asked for recounts in heavy Republican districts, wouldn't you be afraid of "Republican's divining votes for Bush".
