Mary, RE: The problem is that when the two gigabyte HDs are fragmented and full of those mpg, jpg, xls, ppt, and large doc files the F500 types are not just going to replace the HD, they are going to toss the whole system.
And, when you replace the old system, you are not going to get a CPU that was good enough - are you?
And, pretty soon, I think even your little shop will be confronted with the same replacement issues. Let's see how you guys solve it.
My guess is that this problem will be solved by some kind of NAS system that you can plug into the network just like another computer. Even Mickey Mouse operations like mine will have a storage-dedicated device that a hard drives contents can easily be downloaded to.
Right now that really isn't easy enough for a lot of small shops, and this prompts upgrades for a lot of people. My guess is this won't be the case in the near future. I am pretty fortunate in that I really don't have storage issues right now, so that kind of problem doesn't affect me...yet. |
