It's all going to turn out perfectly. The budget surplus is causing some big problems. 30-Year Treasuries used to be the cornerstone of the bond markets, but they are disappearing, because of the surplus. So, hopefully we'll get a bi-partisan compromise, in which the Democrats get to fund all the programs they want, and the Republicans get to enact their wish-list of tax cuts. That, combined with a recession, ought to nicely re-liquify the market for 30-year Treasuries.
