BUSH CAMPAIGN WINS ON CHALLENGES TO ABSENTEE BALLOTS IN TWO FLORIDA COUNTIES - CBS MarketWatch.com
Two judges in Florida have dismissed Democratic complaints that some 25,000 absentee ballots in two Republican-leaning Florida counties should be tossed out. The ruling will be appealed.
If the ballots were invalidated, it would be enough to give Al Gore Florida's 25 electoral votes and the White House.
Democrats not directly affiliated with Gore said county election officials allowed party officials to correct Republican absentee ballot applications while leaving Democratic applications in the discard pile.
Meanwhile, the Florida Supreme Court is mulling Gore's final appeal while the Republican Legislature is ready to summarily declare George W. Bush the winner in the state.
