cap losses over and above cap gains offset ONLY ordinary income to a limit of 3k.... if you have more losses than 3k....they carry over into future years.....first to be absorbed by future cap gains.....and if there are none....then once again with a limit of 3k against ordinary income.... if you never have a cap gain again....you have a limit of 15 years to absorb the loss at 3k per year...... J
