What if there are a lot of Bush votes? Why doesn't anyone mention this possibility? Check out the size of the undervote (numerically, not just percentage-wise) vs. the voting pattern of each county. The New York Times/Election 2000 site (you need to register, but it's free) has a good interactive guide to the Florida vote. I think both camps had decided that recounts would benefit Gore by November 8th. That knowledge has driven all actions since.
