And I was in San Diego last weekend. Never thought to stop in to see if the lights were still on.

I have a theory. MCI didn't bid in the auction against the big guns of AT&T and Sprint in the A and B Block. They layed back in the bushes, smirking at how much they were going to save by not building an infrastructure. They ended up buying a few billion minutes of airtime from NextWave. Then NextWave ran into FCC and some financial problems, and MCI still had nothing in their "one-stop shopping" billing plan while AT&T, Sprint and PrimeCo turned up their systems.

Now, NextWave is trying to petition the FCC for a stay on the July 25% foreign ruling. Then they can hold out until the end of the year when new foreign money comes pouring into their project. That's better than their IPO plan (no money there). Now, MCI is starting to sweat at the brow and has decided to move NextWave onto their tower network throughout the US in exchange for airtime. NextWave will get up and running in the major cities at a fraction of the price of new installs. How do you like my theory?
