Some Democrats are angered at the way Gore
has handled the recount effort. The same source
described the Gore strategy as "kerosene on a
burning fire."

Many of Gore's party brethren were frustrated
by the way the vice president ran his campaign,
saying he did not capitalize on a record of peace
and prosperity, and his criticizing his refusal to
utilize President Clinton on the campaign trail.

Some Democrats are already saying the vice
president should have come out from the
beginning requesting a statewide recount. As
one put it, "instead they cherry-picked and
counted dimples, which gave George W. Bush
the high road."
