He once told me that the '85 fuel pump was a POS and that he always replaced them with an '87 fuel pump and plugged the extra hole.

I am not sure it the fuel pump was my only problem, since it works for some time, and not work other (leaving me stuck at various places).

My "quik-fix" solution was to pour some gas into the carburator through the air intake while someone turned on the starter. I am sure it's not the safest thing to do. <g>
