(OT) Good observation on today's Florida Supreme Court Opinion. As an attorney I'd say that this is a poorly reasoned decision. That is because it again fails to give equal credit to all votes in the State of Florida.

Only overvotes-not all ballots- will be recounted in "every county". Yet the major Democratic Counties of Broward, Volusia, and Palm Beach already recounted all ballots- and Dade recounted the 20% most heavily Democratic precincts en toto too.

Why not recount the Cuban precincts en toto in Dade County too? We all know why.

And the military votes? It looks like the Democratic Party got away with "murder" on suppressing the military votes. The Florida Supreme Court forgot to address them IMO.

How would you like to be an officer in the US Marines, Army, Air Force, or Navy and have as a Commander-in-Chief a person who actively disenfranchised you and asported your most fundamental constitutional rights?

I have a nice email note from my college rooomate- He is the Vice Chair of the Democratic Party in a western State. It details the diary of one Democrat who sat on the Broward County hand count. As you would suspect, all dimpled chads with a mark in Gore's column were called "votes' while the majority Democratic Canvas Board rejected all dimpled chads for George Bush as "too uncertain to call a vote".

Well Democrats control almost all of the Canvassing Boards in Florida- So what result do you expect in a recount which also has been given no ground rules to follow?

The disparate treatment of equally-situated voters in Florida and the lack of standards and lack of refernce to the military votes, to me makes the Florida decison look pretty haphazard- and open to review.

I honestly at this point have lost respect for Mssr. Gore. I lost it when I heard Joe Lieberman and Al Gore come out in the last couple of days and speak approvingly of the Seminole and Martin County vote suppression lawsuits.

What happened to Mssr. Gore's "Every vote should count" mantra that he expounded just a few days ago?? If he really believed in that statement, then he would publicly condemn the Seminole and Martin County lawsuits strongly- something which he did not do.

Mssr. Gore has situational ethics- and changes his value systems and principals- and positions- almost daily as it besuits his current thinking. I see him to be a power driven unethical and unprincipled person- and Joe Lieberman too has really turned out to be a disappointment to me over the last two weeks. He has become a "yes man" who blindly parrots Mssr. Gore's positions (sort of Mssr. Gore's own Rudolph Hess spokesperson).

Call me old fashioned, call me traditional- But I truly feel sorry for my fellows citizens that we may end up with such Nero-like unprincipled persons at the top of our power structure....
