quehubo007, Shazam- You just noted another of California's problems. Many of these-NG fired plants announced- especially far away from the gas supply sources in Arizona and California won't be built at such high gas prices- that's assuming that they can obtain supplies and then get them down the East/West Pipeline....

If you work in the power industry, then you know it's a game of "chicken" being played by all of these power plant developers when they announce a particular plant site development....

That's also why I think that George Bush, Jr. did such a heck of a job down here in Texas, in that his State Government intentionally coordinated high tech infrastructure development with natural gas production incentives and P/L debottlenecking, with PUCT electric deregulation, and finally transmission line deployment. And he did it through a period with no help from the Federal Government when oil & gas prices collapsed in 1997-1998- even more impressive.

If you are serving on the USS Texas, then you can thank a good skipper for the fact that you ride high and calmly in smooth waters gas/power-wise/tech/economy-wise, while on the horizon to the West, the USS California is leaderless and listing badly, on fire and ready to capsize....

The question is- Should we sail over and rescue the survivors?
