My last post on this subject.*

They overruled the judicial decision made by the District Courts that listened to the actual cases in full length, not these abbreviated 30 minute oral arguments for which the Supreme Court has no respect. Also, they have failed to answer the questions about the US Supreme Court's questions regarding federal statutes.

They overruled the legislature by imposing new deadlines for the election and are now accepting partial recounts. Both these decisions are contrary to the state laws put forth by the state law. The standards for manual recounts only applied to recounts that were turned in by the election deadline imposed by the state law - 7 days following the election. Federal statutes clearly prevent states from changing the standards of election law after the fact. Any remedies beyond the deadlines should result in changes to the state law for future elections.

It all boils down to class. Al Gore and George Bush showed alot of class and restraint during this process. The District Courts had a dignified approach to the law set forth before them. The blatant abuse of discretion of the State Supreme Court shows zero class. They failed to even answwer the questions of the US Supreme Court which limited their powers to those extended by the State Legislature before bombarding Florida with the worst legal decision in the history of this country. They stuck out the bird to every legitimate body of power in the state of Florida and even the US Supreme Court.

Now that Gore's legal options have expired, it's going to be poetic justice to watch Gore followers scream that it's unfair for the State Legislature to exercise it's power and question the legitimacy of Bush's defense. We are now reaching the safe harbor when every can finally take off the gloves and show their fangs. The Bush people have complained about the inequity of the liberal (what an understatement) bias of the State Supreme Court. Now, it's the Democrat's turn to cry about the conservative bias of the Florida legislature. It ain't going to be pretty.

Further, don't you think it's kind of hokey that the Florida Supreme Court is ordering a statewide recount when it was not requested.

* Subject to the same discretion that the Supreme Court of Florida has extended itself.
