It is the penalty of our imperfect system, which has served us very well in most situations. re: "No matter who wins, we will always be a house divided on this issue. How long did it take to get over that last house divided thing? I doubt that this will be over in my lifetime. Politics in America has changed forever because of this." The question is, long term, will it change for the better or worse. I think we have to see it play out to find that answer.
