' "The American Way"
of dealing with these election issues probaby appears
peculiar to many both within and beyond our borders. '

True, this view from outside your borders is that your judiciary doesn't know what it is doing. It certainly doesn't know the law. Either the recounts are legal or not. If the judges ruled 4-3, then at least 3 of the most senior judges in the state's Supreme Court are wrong. Not to mention how easily each court can contradict the previous rulings of another court. Might as well be decided by cutting a pack of cards.

And to even consider counting pregnant chads and dimples etc is ludicrous. As someone commented on TV here in England, we have a simple intelligence test called a pencil. If you can tell which end is which then you win the right to mark an X in a box and the deal is done.

The law must state whether a dimple counts as a vote. This should be decided b4 an election, not after. I suspect it has been decided b4hand but someone wants to change the rules after the fact.
