<ot>Hi Anand - I don't know enough of Gov Bush's track records, even though I am concerned of his optimistic tax cut proposal [I could be wrong, but I thought I'd get my bias in the open <g>,] but fwiw, rumor is that VP Gore was instrumental in moving the Clinton administration into the paying down of the national debt as a major economic policy. If it is true, w/o it, Chmn Greenspan could have raised 1/4 pts more than 6 times by now due to the debt load. This is obviously a counterfactual stmt not subject to empirical validation; however, in light of the Bush administration interest rate environment with respect to the debt burden, it may not be a bad conjecture. Just my naive 2c though <G>

Btw, if there is any truth to VP Gore's accomplishment, his true crime against himself is leaving this real accomplishments unheralded while he embellished others like the internet etc

best, Bosco
