THe crux of the matter is that the Legislature used their plenary authority to order an election by the citizens of the state under the states general election law.

The general election law has a place for the contest phase and the intervention of the judiciary. The primary difference between presidential elections and others is the December 12th deadline.

The law in effect on November 7, was the states general election law. The Florida SC followed that law with deference to relevant Federal law. The determination of the truth of this last statement will be in the hands of the US SC.
