Steve Lee. "Democracy" (at least the U.S. version) extends to a wider plane than most new citizens can understand. Once you get the hang of it, you will understand that "U.S." laws are NOT beholding to any other laws (particularly British Laws).
When our courts cut 4/3 -- that means that a NEW law has been created. It does not mean that this new law is subject to doubt in the future. And it does not mean that the Legistature gets another shot at making new laws right away. In the" U.S. of A", we REALLY do believe that our laws are just, ours courts do a fine job of sorting those laws out, and that our Legistlatures do a fine job of making new laws, and the our elected Executives execute those laws well.
Within the fine system within which some of us work, we are forced only to expect the best, and to behave at our best. Whoever said that expecting "the best" from everyone is too much to ask, IMHO, should be crushed under a Russian tank.
When I read how Republican executives violated Florida law, the only thing I had on my mind was that Russian tank.
To trabnlate an old Latin quote, "Justice is Justice, and nothing else is the same."
