After witnessing how messed up our electoral process is and how partisan powers can bring down an army of attorneys with which to drive the courts into rulings they don't wish to make, it saddens me. What was demonstrated in Florida is that the electoral rules and regs don't mean a thing. . . and that Florida county law and even state law is not respected . . . it can all be argued away and appealed to a higher court.

The message that sends out is that with enough money and time EVERY law can be argued. And the real PROBLEM is the partisanship that trickles into the final decisions. I realize this is nothing new. . . and partisanship has its merits . . but I guess what truly bothers me, which was not as evident prior to this mess is this. . . Question: Where there are a sufficient number of bright attorneys to argue otherwise, does ANY law hold?

As important as it is that the "right thing" be done, will we ever REALLY know what the RIGHT vote was? Not just in Florida, but nationwide? Florida is certainly not the only state with such voting problems. . .it is merely the one that stands most clearly in the way of victory for the two candidates. It is the shortest path! If we were truly concerned with the RIGHT ANSWER, then we would need to apply whatever hand recount techniques are going on in Florida, to EVERY OTHER STATE. A broad, equal and fair assessment of all states. . . . which could take many months . . . and STILL could be appealed by either party, if they were not satisfied with the outcome. And that is absurd.

I guess if I felt that either candidate truly had the best interests of the citizens of this country at heart, I would be more interested in the "right decision" being made. But these candidates were hand picked by an elite group of powerful politicians long before the first primary was held.

If we are TRULY interested in the "will of the people", then let's reform the entire electoral process. . .and allow for a third candidate to have an EQUAL chance at actually getting elected!!! Perhaps combine the third parties to make the "Green Peoples" party. . . .LOL. . . I don't know. . . whatever it takes to offer Americans a TRUE INDEPENDENT VOICE!! Not merely the same old voice in a new suit.

Now THAT would be worth fighting for in congress. . . and doing everything in our legal power to see that it has an equal chance. That would be the AMERICAN thing to do. And that would get me excited about politics in America.

How about you guys?

>sigh<

Unfortunately. . . . . Nope!. . . . the FED would never allow it.
