CW's taste in music has deteriorated a lot since he left home. He certainly never heard ska here.
Yesterday, Ammo's band, now called Big Ol' shOw? played in their school cafeteria through the lunch hours. The football team is going to districts and they were having a big pep day. The principal dressed up as the Grinch. He is this big serious guy who is really intimidating. I think he came from an inner city school or something- when he first came to Carroll, he wanted the kids to wear color-coded cards around their necks to go to the bathroom. The kids were SO offended, as they consider themselves very adult and trustworthy. They called him the Nazi. When you get to know him, you realize he's just not a smiler - and definitely not one of Cobe's fast verbal processors, despite his doctorate. But he attends every event at that school and even drove to Austin last year when the OneAct went to State. When they did MEet Me in St Louis, he took a role as the streetcar driver. I think it's so endearing that he is a frustrated actor. Sometimes he works out in the weight room and I understand he can outpress all the players. No one messes with him.
Anyway, it was a great success. Ammo and a friend have what they call a drumwall-- two full sets plus a long rack of drums, and they are incredible together. I just bet the faculty was so thrilled. ANd yes- they do a ska number.
