I disagree. With the majority of mutual funds you can't even be sure
of achieving mediocrity. Most "professional" managers have a helluva
time even achieving the averages.

I'm not saying mutuals should be avoided totally; I do believe that
a well-selected DRIP portfolio should be a part of more investors'
holdings. I am in companies that have DRPs for the long haul, and
I buy more shares monthly with no regard for short-term pricing
and trends. We even have one DRP (not a tech but a utility) that
sells us shares with OCPs at 5% discount to market. There are
all kinds of companies, just as there are all kinds of mutuals.

Besides, I *like* doing my own research.
