One problem with electing judges is there is rarely any opposition: in my area the most I can do usually is vote "no". Last night was one of my favorite nights in the entire year. Every year at Christmastime I host a party for my Libertarian friends. This time I had a great turnout of around 35 people: I made turkey soup (homemade) and garlic bread (Vons) and people brought whatever they wanted. The food was delicious. The company delightful. All evening we talked about individual rights, principled people like Harry Browne and Ron Paul, how to get the American people to want independence and responsibility-for-themselves again, and other subjects dear to my heart. We talked about the disaster that occurs when government gets into protection whether it's "for your safety" or "for the environment". (Cal MTB in gas is a case in point: Ca gas providers were forced, at our expense of course, to add this to the gas "for the environment". It made people sick. The govt didn't care. Now it turns out it also poisons the water supply so it has to be removed. We will pay for that too.) Govt steals our land, (Govt should own NO land: land is precious wealth that should belong to the citizens of the country) and then makes it unavailable to us though we are paying for its upkeep. There were several people that I had not met and a few that came from over 100 miles away. Libertarians in general want to be left alone. That makes it difficult to get them involved in things, even in social gatherings. So this was very special. We even had a good mix of females (Libertarians are usually male, because many females are fuzzy do good thinkers, sorry gals, I'm female but I know it is true.)... I didn't want it to end. The last person left around 1 a.m. and I probably finally went to sleep an hour later. It's hard to "come down" from the high of warm companionable company. Freeus
