Re: since Gore started all this by bringing the ambulance chasers down first

The first lawsuit filed by either of the campaigns was filed by Bush's campaign. Various other suits have been filed by individuals that would affect both candidates.

But the Bush campaign was the first to file its own lawsuit. He didn't just defend against some third party action, but initiated an action to stop recounts - and in a Federal court, no less.

My guess is that Bush will end up winning, given the way the recounts are being done. But his actions have been pretty bad, IMHO. Is his campaign agonizing over the decision that allows those suspect ballots from Seminole county to be included in the counts? Thousands were illegally altered after submission and many had invalid voter numbers (even after correction - affadavits were filed that a number of ballot applications were known to have wrong numbers, but were accepted anyway). It seems that if the campaign workers saw that an application was from their list of registered republicans, but they had no number, they just put down a number, which was then accepted by the local (Republican) county officials.

Did you see busloads of Democratic staffers sent in from other states to demonstrate in the streets in an attempt to have the Seminole county court decision reversed? Is Gor or Daley whining and crying about an unfair judicial system?

So it seems that the concept is that every possibly legitimate vote should count, right? Even if there are some suspicions about it. So why the desperate and disgusting attempts by the Republicans to prevent recounts?
