WRONG!! NPR was reporting the denial of the stay at noon (eastern) today. Stay granted...by a 5-4 court. Strictly political. Bush had to prove irreparable harm! Isn't Gore racing against a clock and a process and wouldn't HE suffer such harm if the counting stopped? And Bush would suffer irreparable harm if the counting were completed? Huh? Regardless of the merits of the case, the fact we now have a divided country at EVERY level is very bad. Or, it's VERY good. Hopefully we've all learned not to judge the implications of anything in this entire process. But 5 to 4 does not bode well for legitimacy.
