Oh well, I guess I should stick to biotech prognostication. <g> I must say I'm surprised that Kennedy and O'Connor joined the majority in granting a stay here. The only irreparable injury Bush could suffer is if the recount had come up with enough votes to make Gore the winner, and the court didn't want to be in the position of then overturning the "winner." I accordingly suspect they wouldn't have stopped the count if they didn't also intend to overrule the Florida Supreme Court, so I think it's back to a likely President Bush. Well it all fits together - the election was essentially a tie, the Florida Supreme Court was 4-3, and now the US Supreme Court is 5-4. Peter
