i got them mean old jumpy monitor blues....

since installing win2000pro about a month ago, i have been faced with a monitor problem that i have so far been unable to fix. i am dual booting with win98se and this issue does not exist on that os.

the symptoms are most obvious when viewing a browser window, either netscape or ie. the best way to describe one of the problems is that as i scroll down the page, it is as if there is a horizontal ripple or speed bump effect always in the same spot on the window. as the text or graphic passes over the offending spot, it looks like it is traveling over a speed bump.

another symptom is jerkiness or jumpiness when i drag the window to another location on my desktop.

a third symptom is a low level flashing or pulsing, that is not as noticeable when looking directly at the screen, but really seems to intensify when looking slightly away from the monitor.

what i have done is installed the correct monitor driver from dell for this os. that made no difference. i have also gone to the 3dfx site (i am running a voodoo3 3000d agp graphics card) and installed their most current driver. that behaved miserably and i had to remove it within a half hour's use.

the only thing that seems to work is the ms driver that went in during install.

i will repeat that this same monitor produces none of the symptoms described above when i boot into win98se and perform the same operations, so i know i have an isolated os prob.

i welcome all suggestions and input

:)
