>>I would have felt that way only if the "recounts" had gone forward until enough votes were manufactured for Gore to allow him to claim victory<<

Actually Boies as much as said that this was their game plan. He said that Gore would claim whatever the recount showed as of the deadline, and not wait for the full statewide recount. Some of the counties with punchcards don't have the software to run the cards through and eject the "no" votes AKA "undercounts." If memory serves me, the software that Miami-Dade was using was developed locally, or was in beta-test, at any rate isn't commercially available. I may be mistaken, since I saw that Hillsborough County was running ballots through their machines and segregating the "no" votes.

Of course, what Boies was saying was contrary not only to Florida law but to the opinion of the Florida Supreme Court, but I think Boies felt safe in assuming that the Florida Supreme Court would roll over for Gore a third time.

I am planning on taking my kids to picket the Naval Conservatory (Vice President's Mansion) tomorrow just so they can understand how important free speech is. Any suggestions for what we should put on our signs?
