The decision today by the US SUPREME COURT is a TRAVESTY! Here's Why...

I must tell you guys that I have now lost respect for the U.S. Supreme Court because it is clear they are a political and partisan body after the stunt they pulled on Saturday. It is extremely discouraging when you can't have respect for the highest office in the land. I haven't been so discouraged about our country's judicial system in a long time.

Before you dismiss me as a Gore "nut", please understand that I actually prefer Bush for President. I just wanted him to win by winning the recount (which it looked to me like he was going to), especially if you added in all the military votes.

To overturn the ruling of the Florida State Supreme Court and messing in state business is appalling enough. But the apparent reason they did it was even more troubling. The primary reason was apparently because no "equal standards" were being applied to the manual recounting procedure statewide. Sounds somewhat reasonable on the surface, but the problem is that Florida LAW (yes Florida LAW) does not provide a state standard (which the FL Supreme Court pointed out). It gives each county the right to establish their OWN standards. That how they set the law up.

Many counter, "Well, it's a stupid and unfair law". I agree! Most people agree! But unfortunately that doesn't matter. It's the dam Law and you've got to live with it, for now. Almost every sane person has been saying all along that you cannot change the law AFTER the election that was in place BEFORE the election.

Well, the U.S. Supreme Court did exactly that today and it's shocking that our highest judicial body went to that extreme. It sets a dangerous precedent, in my opinion.

I am sure the Florida Supreme Court wanted to employ a statewide recounting standard but that would have involved altering the LAW, something that they had already been accused of.

BOTTOM LINE:
I can understand citizens for Bush acting the way they do because they just want their guy to win. What I cannot do is believe the U.S. Supreme Court ignored Florida Law in order to overturn the Florida Supreme Court decision.

Something is very wrong and ugly here.
