Geese fly in a V because it’s easier for every goose except the first one. They take turns leading.

When a bird, or a plane, flies, air circulates around the ends of their wings. This air current is travelling upward, and will give lift to the bird immediately following. This additional lift reduces the effort needed to fly. This is my serious explanation.

If birds didn’t fly in a V, consider where their beak would be. This is my whimsical explanation.

Cheers, PW.
