Sand OT re My point is that Gore started
the manipulation by asking for a hand count when he knows that the standard

That's what I was doing my best to avoid, "party politics"
& the finger pointing that goes with it.

I was looking at the system , because this never had to
happen to start with, also I know the best solution
would be found in the same way it could have been
avoided to start with.
To nitpick it only lets it come back again
and again and again, we need to have run off elections
and that should have already been in place long ago.
------------

BTW you'r rooting for Bush is obvious and I might add
disingenuous considering how hard I'v tried to leave
out any implication of the way the vote should go,
my ONLY point is that the "popular" vote without a run off
if less than a majority is a screwed up mess to start
with.

But being you did draw me in I will add that your wrong
in thinking Gore started it. Most of us see what we want
to see but one fact I do know is that the count was close
enough in the first place that the recount was a given
and had to happen by Florida Law;
no one had to
start or request it and no one should obstruct it.

The nit picking has been all about how and where it
will be done.
And I contend not just Florida , but every State
where there was not a clear 50%+ for one
or the other ought to re-vote.

BTW I voted for Nader even though I knew he didn't
have a prayer, he did have some important things to
say and I wanted him to know at least some people
heard what he was saying. However If I had
thought he could have won I wouldn't have voted for him :-)

I live in Texas and I'm not so dumb as to know that
Bush wouldn't sweep this state.

Not that he is so popular here in his own state, but
"pork barrel politics is alive and well,"
By that I mean he didn't and couldn't win as Governor by near the margin in Texas as he did in running for
President.
I think most Texans would like to see him as President
as much as to get him out of the Governors mansion as
anything else.

Never can I recall any President losing his own
State even though history shows some
that couldn't win a States janitors job the second time
if they had to get it by votes in their own State ,
however they never failed to rally behind them if they had a
shot at being President.
it's "pass the pork or don't you dare come back home"
type voting.
