Lane, I agree that the internet has become a valuable tool. I value my time also, and therefore down-loading speed is valuable to me. With the advent of 56K technology, I have been looking for the first opportunity to get this new speed of access. When I questioned your office a few months ago via e-mail about World Access's plans for this new technology, your response was not very enthusiastic. In fact, the impression I got was that you had no plans to offer 56K access at least until "a standard was set", which looks like sometime in 1998. Anyway, I have found an ISP who is offering local access to 56K sometime next week. So I will not be renewing my account with you. I realize that since you are not based on U.S. Robotics equipment you are at a disadvantage, as U.S. Robotics brought their equipment to market ahead of equipment based on Rockwell chips.
Further, since Rockwell-based server equipment has not had DSP chips, a simple software down-load to upgrade to the new 56K technology is also unavailable. So in order to offer 56K access right now, you would have to buy all new hardware, either from USR or from someone else, when available.

Further, in the last few weeks I have been getting way too many 9600
connections, for the first time ever. I understand you have switched from UUNet to a local provider recently, so perhaps this has something to do with it? Anyway, about 2/3 of the time in the past few weeks I do get a 28.8 connection, but those 9600 connections are not as enjoyable. I want to go forward, not backwards.

Best regards,

Dwight Karlsen
