TG,

One thing I will guarantee is that the failure to count those votes will cast a cloud upon Bush's legitimacy for a very, very long time. It will haunt his Presidency for its entirety.

No matter how he wins, his opponents would find something that would cast cloud over his presidency. The FL SC would always find or manufacture a scenario under which Gore could win, but Gore lost them all. No matter how it ends, there would still be an open scenario under which Gore could win.

I think you are reading too much into the way it ended (or is about to end). There is no scenario under which Bush could win that would satisfy his opponents.

Joe
