Well they have a duty to step in when bandits in black robes are ignoring Federal law and changing the outcome of the election for the President. Is this any different than a coup by the unelected Florida Judiciary? As to being predetermined, I think they were already in agreement that the first action by the FSC was out of their authority but out of courtesy the USSC gave the FSC another chance to save face. Instead of correcting their first error, the FSC extended it with another wave of their magic wand, overturning multiple Democratic controlled lower courts and election boards, creating yet another recount with no standards for determining a vote. In short creating more utter chaos, so the USSC had little recourse. Re: "Tell me that this doesn't make you a little queasy" It does. I would have much preferred to see the election results stand on Nov 7th but the result is the same. Another ace the Gore Judiciary still holds is the Absentee ballots case recently decided on in 2 Counties. Although the local Judges ruled the ballots will stand, the FSC could still over turn that on appeal, throw out the ballots out and Gore wins on that basis. Who's to stop them? I think the Florida Legislature should assert their authority and end this nonsense once and for all. By appointing the Electors for George W. there can be no question as to their authenticity, their constitutionality and they would be chosen by duly elected representatives of the People, not appointed by a Court, be it Florida SC or USSC.
