Terrific post. It really summed up many of the players/issues in electronic/home banking quite well. CKFR is in such a good position on the bill payment side that I think only poor execution could trip them up. Their balance sheet is in decent shape, so they shouldn't lack for money. I think one thing they need to do is raise consumer awareness of the time-saving aspects of electronic bill payment. Maybe they could cultivate more consumer "pull through" of the service with an advertising campaign focused on time-saving and the Checkfree "brand". Sort of similar to the way INTC began 7 years ago with the "Intel Inside" campaign. Emphasize reliability of the service and begin to build brand equity without scaring their bank partners. E-Bill payment is obviously a long way from CPUs, but I think CKFR could really "seed" the market and begin to build some brand equity with a well done campaign.
