A less than 200K edge vs the total votes cast is within the margin percentage that would trigger an automatic recount in many places. Then we would debating the problems with every technology and process used in the US etc... ...not to mention that the popular vote would put more power in the hands of highly populated regions with specific needs, values, etc... at the expense of larger geographic regions with smaller populations and another unique set of problems, values etc... You may not agree, but I think it's possible to argue that the states already have too little power. That translates into less freedom for me to vote with my feet. Wayne
