thanks for summarizing and presenting this info to the thread.

i have gone back over my records and see that i purchased about 700 shares in may of 97. i held them thru the 11/97 date. (i later added more shares, but these 700 are the only ones that fall inside the window you noted.)

here's my question. i didn't purchase more COMS until 7/98. around that time i began daytrading COMS. without going into any unnecessary details, would you agree then that my scenario, as described above, puts me in the general category which you have itemized as #(3)?

"(3) If you sold after the 2/3/98 close, you get the lesser of (a) $5.67/share or (b) actual purchase price less $33.90, the closing price of COMS on 2/3/98"
