I fear you are right. God help us; we do not seem able to help ourselves anymore. The vicious partisanship that has surfaced now is appalling. We seem to have forgotten that we all live in the same nation, that in fact we are friends and neighbors. Can anyone now remember how elections prior to this one ended? One candidate conceded, congratulated the victor, and the rest of us went about our business. Not with chants and posters and screaming crowds outside courtrooms. Not with dueling decisions and lying lawyers. I hope this strong ill will has infected only a small fraction of Americans or we are in very dangerous straits indeed.
