Without the intervention of the US Supreme Court, about 25 minutes ago, all the undervotes in Florida would have been counted.

But why not recount the "overvotes?" If a ballot shows straight Democratic votes, except for a vote for both Gore and some third party guy, shouldn't we assume that they meant to vote for only Gore? And what about all the Nader voters that would have voted for Gore if they knew it was going to be this close? They just wanted to "send a message," not "throw their vote away." Let's divine their true intent also.

And what exactly is an undervote- are dimpled chads votes or not? Gore's Lawyer Boise misled the FSC and the Broward county canvassing board about an Illinois court ruling, and then failed to report the correct information. As a result Broward county did it's own thing in the recount.

Should anyone care? Or is lying OK when you have the "true intent of the voter" at heart?

If anything good can come out of this whole mess, it would be a national and bipartisan backlash against hyper-litigation.
