AB- HELP:- AOL 6.0 and MS IE 5.0

I installed these two on my Portege 7020. When I used dial up on thr AOL it instantaneoulsy not only shut down AOL but it also shut down the entire machine in a fracrion of a second ( something I would like to do deliberatly at the end of the day but have never managed to achieve at the same speed!!!!)

So I uninstalled the AOL and the same thing started to happen using dial up on the MS IE 5.0. Not quite as bad as with the AOL but still pretty unpleasant when it shuts me down.

Alos the PC takes nearly 5 minutes to start windows 98. This has been slowly getting worse.

I dread resinstating the whole system becuase I wipes out all your files and I don't fance that unless its an absolute necessity.

I bought Windows 2000 Professional but it looks very very difficult to upgrade the W98.

OK thats my tale of woe.

any ideas.

Best regards,

L
