Hello, everyone. I'm in the market for a new backup computer, and I can't believe my eyes. Either I've fallen into some kind of 5th dimension and I'm now in Never Never Land of No Consumer Choices, or things are at a tragic pass all the way around. I went to the Micronpc site, and every time I clicked on to customize a computer system, I was SHOCKED by how few choices were given! For example, if the system came with 128MB memory, then the only other choice was 64MB! There were only 2 choices of monitor on the computer I was looking at 17 inches and 15 inches. NO choices for HD at all, NO choices for video card and pretty much no choice of most anything! This is DEFINITELY not how I remembered micronpc just a few months ago? What happened?
At Gateway, all I could buy was ONE CD unit - it was a choice of DVD or CD-RW or CD-ROM but NO option of a SECOND CD-RW or CD-ROM, and ONLY WinMe on the system I was trying to configure!
DELL was the best, but even there, it seemed like there were fewer choices and ways of configuring than a few months ago, and it seems hard to GET RID OF the AOL/Dell ISP offer and the like.
WHAT IS HAPPENING? Did I just hit a bad patch, am I not looking in the right places and navigating the sites correctly, or has the number of choices just dropped dramatically?
Whew, no wonder PC sales are hitting the skids - I just decided to wait with the purchase of the computer until I can get some CHOICES! Maybe I'm atypical, but what I'm seeing is not good!
Tell me, I'm wrong, and only seeing things - or as the case may be, NOT seeing things!
