My wife and I bought our first house in western Missouri in '75 for $12,900. Two blocks from the county courthouse in a small town. I was putting insulation in the attic, slipped, and stuck my foot through the ceiling. That "spurred" my initial interest in repairing plaster ceilings. Ha ha.

You're absolutely right. Such rehab work is a source of pride, and I enjoy giving people tours of the house. The temptation was to make it "Grand Victorian," but we have tried to tone it down some ... not try to make the house more than it was 103 years ago.

It was three apartments when we bought it. Kitchen and bath on each of the three floors. It has now been restored again to single-family.
