Intel will announce today that within a decade it will be making processors capable of operating ten times faster than today's speediest chips. ... Intel's breakthrough means that Moore's Law--under which computing power doubles every 18 months--should continue to rule for years to come.

If the speed doubles every 18 months, the chips will be operating at speeds ten times faster than the current speed in about five years. In 10 1/2 years they will be operating at 128 times faster than current speeds.
